Our History

West Park Healthcare Centre provides rehabilitation, complex continuing care and long-term care. The respiratory program is linked with the academic division of respiratory medicine at the University of Toronto and therefore plays a role in clinical care, teaching and clinical research. In 2007, West Park was designated by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care as the Long-Term Ventilation Centre of Excellence for Ontario. From its inception in 1904 as a Tuberculosis Sanitarium, to the development of the Chronic Assisted Ventilatory Care Service in 1985, West Park has had an ongoing commitment to advancing respiratory care.
